On Tour – Traveller Made Is In Love With Berlin

A staggering 172 billion euros was spent on international luxury travel last year and Berlin ranks amongst the most popular travel destinations for high-price trips in Europe. To further promote Berlin’s luxury segment for the rich and famous, the city’s most prestigious hotels and visitBerlin have invited travel designers from Traveller Made to an exclusive trip to Berlin. The trip has one aim and one aim only: to display that Berlin has grown up and now offers an extravagant lifestyle scene to those who seek it.

Naturally there’s only one address when it comes to finding the best tours available for money: Berlinagenten. We were entrusted with the daily program for the 12 visitors and we’ll tell you this much already: Berlin was ranked 10 out of 10 points.

After throwing a classy champagne reception, we guided the travel agents around the city. From a private visit to the Platoon Art Hall and Berlin’s classical sights like Potsdamer Platz and Hackescher Market, to supper at the super tasty Studio by Tim Raue, no rock was left unturned. On Teufelsberg – Berlin’s highest hill – we did a graffiti tour and an on-the-spot graffiti workshop for all group members. What could be more exclusive than spraying on the walls of an old CIA listening station that’s shut down to public?!

After some of the darkest secrets of the Cold War were unravelled (if we told you, we’d have to kill you), we showcased Berlin’s upcoming high-end cuisine. While Berlin’s luxurious hotel and jetset scene is only slowly catching up with its European rivals, the quality of Berlin’s food scene has skyrocketed in the past years. Hence our super tasty gourmet tour through Berlin’s finest restaurants was a real mind-blower. The extraordinary french cuisine at Le Faubourg, the trendy Spindler restaurant by the Spree, the famous Sage restaurant and of course, Berlin’s new Asian star Zen Kichi were the perfect addresses to display Berlin’s new love for luxury.

The glamour wouldn’t run out until the early morning, when our now tired but happy travel agents were driven back to their respective 5 star hotels from the celeb-studded Pearl Club. The best VIP section and an endless supply of champagne bottles had our heads slightly spinning. The 10/10 ranking has proven that Berlin is ready for more high-end travellers, and we’re the perfect haven for top notch private tours through the city. We’re ready for more!

On Tour – Berlin’s Booming Beauty Scene

The beauty scene didn’t always have an easy life in Berlin. In a city where it’s common to just hop in your joggers to do your daily errands – or even go clubbing – opening a beauty store once was a dreary venture. But with Berlin rising high on international popularity scales, the city’s face is undergoing constant change. To be precise: Berlin now wears make up, a 100€ hair cut and has a secret loathing for barber shops.

When the Nordic branch of a world wide beauty company asked us to show them the hippest & upcoming spots in the beauty scene, we put our joggers aside and proudly presented Berlin’s latest feel-good oases in one of our popular cool-hunting tours.

We visited an exclusive range of Barber Shops like BeardyBoys and Wheadon, where especially men can get their beauty game on – anything from beauty products to hairdressing and shaving is on the menu. As befitting for the topic, we paid hommage to a whole range of beautifying institutions, such as The Store or Jacks Beauty Department. The trend definitely goes towards creating fancy All-In-One stores, where beauty customers get all their wishes fulfilled under the same roof.

But no Berlinagenten tour without a touch of glamour – between the stations we made a stop at the Platoon Art Hall, finding our way into a sercret bar, hidden in one of the containers. Our unexpecting customers had the Berlinagenten treatment coming towards them – everything is more fun after you’ve had a beer.

Finishing the tour, our guests already felt like Berlin beauty pros and got the chance to show off the day’s best pictures at a gala dinner at Soho House in the evening. The night ended as all nights should end – delicious cocktails, DJ Superzandy playing funky tunes and dancing until the feet hurt. Thanks for the amazing day!

On Tour – The Great Summer Event

Many tour guide companies bore their guests with old busses and faulty air-conditionings. Luckily, Berlinagenten never took a liking to anything boring. Here’s what we did when our guests from a leading supplier of enterprise applications arrived: we provided four fully loaded steamboats – stacked with free beverage, snacks and the vast knowledge of our top notch guides. Our 280 guests lost their minds when they realized they’d dive into the Berlin-feeling right after getting off their plane. No matter how big the number of guests, we can handle it. All aboard and full speed ahead, here comes Berlinagenten on the Spree!

The moment you think it can’t get much better is the moment we like to shine. After the steamers took us into the city’s heart, we revealed the next surprise: we rented the whole restaurant and viewing platform of the world famous Panoramapunkt. You can’t visit Berlin without seeing its unique beauty from above – the 360 degree panorama is bound to blow your mind. And if this doesn’t, our handpicked flying buffet and selection of fine drinks will. Note: Don’t drop your ice cream. And if you do, make sure to at least aim for a hipster.

After catching some fresh air at Scandic Hotel, Berlin’s members’ club for the creative elite opened its doors for us. Usually celebs like George Clooney, Leo DiCaprio or Madonna are known to stroll through Soho House Berlin, but we had a whole level reserved for our guests this night. Sorry guys, can’t compete with Berlinagenten. Better luck next time!

The DJs Bader & Bernhard made sure the guests wouldn’t stop dancing until early in the monring andtThe notorious blue bunny Scotty was back that night aswell (we wrote about him in The Scene meets Horns&Hooves). He didn’t let us down. Last time he asked us if we were homosexual porn stars, this time he did something that came close to sexual intercourse with a balloon. Live. On stage. It was the best night ever.

Last but not least, what would a party be without a perfect celeb host. We flew one of Germany´s most famous drag queens Ruda Puda and she mingled, danced and lip singed in the spotlight the entire night.

Sunshine and 28 degrees. What could be more suitable for a late August day than a beach club experience?

Since we’re always trying to infuse our guests with the unique Berlin-feeling, we rented the famous Club Rummelsburg, to get a nice little daytime clubbing session going. Our unbelieving guests were greeted by a beautiful Open Air location located right at the Spree. We divided the premises into different areas: Copacobana – a chill out area by the water where you can chat and relax, Vimmerby – a small, cozy area with wooden furniture that essentially looks like IKEA, just outdoors, and of course: Ibiza – complete with an awesome pool, live DJs, bar, dancefloor, a sandy beach with cabanas and even a volleyball and boccia field. Not the usual picture of Berlin, is it? Delicious refreshments for inbetween included self made stone oven pizza and tasty burgers fresh off the grill.

Both the organising team from our client and the team from Rummelsburg couldn’t believe their eyes when the atmosphere got so wild, people started taking off their shirts and went into full-blown party mode. At a firm event during day time. But that’s just what happens when we organize a full Berlin beach club experience during the summer. Who needs Ibiza anyway?

On Tour – All Time Record

Berlinagenten specialises in providing nothing but Berlin’s coolest lifestyle tours. Sometimes we’re guiding groups with just two to three persons. Sometimes customers send 200 guests our way at the same time. Annoying as it may be, from time to time you have to put your champagne glass aside to create a daily schedule that’ll blow your customers off their socks.

Our new record sounds like this: Three prestigious companies. One week. Dozens of guides. Nearly 900 guests. We know that with a great number of guests comes great responsibility: not everyone shares the same interests and if there’s something we hate, it’s unhappy customers. Here’s our solution. Simultaneous lifestyle tours. Done everyday, for a whole week. The guests were split up into smaller groups to make sure everyone still got the attention they needed and we could still create the famous intimacy between Berlinagenten guide and customer.

The huge variety of tours was a mind-blower for most of our guests. Here’s a selection of just a few tours we offered that week, all with specialised guides:

Urban Lifestyle – Discover Berlin’s artistic sub cultures as you dive into the city’s past and soak up the atmosphere that makes this city unique. See behind the myth and find the real Berlin!

Delicato – Encounter delicious food stores and culinary artisans who’ll let your tongue try the unique taste of Berlin. Sweet & salty, sausage & cheese, tea & coffee, health food, whiskey & wine. Surprises guaranteed.

Art Tour – Discover Berlin’s cultural hot spots and see behind the curtains of Berlin’s backyards. Street art gems, artists’ studios and hidden galleries will soon be your new expertise!

Shopping Tours – We know all the creative labels, hip boutiques and tucked-away design studios. Meet and greet designers at work and get the chance to buy cutting-edge fashion!

One of the absolute highlights of the never ending tour week was our popular Snap Shot Tour. Topic: Blockbusters produced in Berlin. By reenacting the most popular scenes, our guests lived through films like Octopussy, Unknown Identity, Inglorious Basterds or The Lives of Others. The creativity and enthusiasm shown by the participants was nothing short of incredible! Our favourite reenactment was the scene from Unknown Identity, where Liam Neeson slides off the Oberbaumbrücke in a cab. The winner team won the photo competition due to their creativity with a plastic fork and a trabant car toy, creating an illusion of the cab crashing into the river Spree.

We’re proud to have made this week unforgettable for our guests, us and everyone involved. We’re already looking forward to the next challenge!

On Tour – ICA

Berlin’s evergrowing food craze has made people from all over the world hungry for a taste of our bittersweet city! We were happy to show ICA the city’s tastiest spots with one of Berlinagenten’s infamous Cool Hunting Tours. These tours are focused on finding emerging trends, business innovations and the city’s currents of tomorrow. To make sure ICA’s needs were met perfectly, we put the tour’s emphasis on cool street food markets, delicious pop up events, charismatic bistros by the water, edgy little food shops and the emerging fine dining scene that create Berlin’s culinary diversity.

We slipped into the role of Sherlock Holmes himself (well, a modern, food-obsessed version of Sherlock maybe). Armed with polaroid cameras and given the task to uncover the secrets of hidden concept stores, organic food stores, delicacy shops and urban fast food markets, our enthusiastic food detectives dived into a sea of tasty treats and took the journey into the city’s vivid culinary core. Our exclusive selection of hip food locations such as Neue Heimat, the legendary Turkish market at Maybachufer and organic super markets like the LPG Bio Market or Biocompany made sure the next tongue-pleasers were never far away.

Berlin takes a leading position when it comes to fresh designs and innovative food impressions and we take a special pride in leading you to the most extraordinary concept stores the city offers, just so you can take home the inspiration you need to get on with your ideas!

In the end though, it’s much more satisfying to see the delicacies on your plate than in front of your camera. For our following Riverside Gastro Rallye we handpicked restaurants like insider’s tip Volt and Sage Restaurant, where we were served one course per restaurant before hopping to the next – a wonderful way to pick up the vibe in different part of the cities.

Now we wouldn’t Berlinagenten if we hadn’t finished off the day with an appropriate portion of glamour, so after some extensive bar hopping our connections helped us jump queues and dance until we could dance no more in the famous house club Avenue! Just one Berlinagenten tour is already bound to blow your mind, but three in one day…? You’ll never look at Berlin the same away again!

On Tour – Rolling With The Best

Wherever we go, we usually arrive majestically sitting on top of a white horse, complete with shiny Berlinagenten armor on and a well-mixed drink in our hands (we stopped with the swords after not getting into Berghain). If it’s one of the days where we’re all out of horses, we consider taking the stylistically confident black limo.

But in times of global warming and changing living conditions, our focus lies on sustainability. The horse was a good way to go, but have you ever seen 70 horses in Berlin? We had to think of a different way of transporting our customers.

Thinking with an empty belly is bad for your health, though, so we took the time for a private dinner at Eins44 before accomplishing the impossible: thanks to Berlinagenten’s close connections into the nightlife and party scene, we managed to get the whole group of 70 into the VIP area of infamous Avenue Club. You name it, we make it happen!

So, how to transport that huge group through the city on the next day and still grant everyone the chance to connect with the city intimately? With every couch potato’s nightmare: a bike tour.

Our guides are filled to bursting with knowledge about urban Berlin – be it the creative scene, traditional attractions like Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and TV-Tower or hidden oases off the beaten path that only well-informed insiders know of. There’s no better way to explore them all than sitting on top of a bike with all the mobility you could dream of at your feet and us to shine a light on your way.

Wait, there is a better way. If you do the bike tour and stop for vodka shots on the way. Don’t believe us? Better do! We took a short break at our friends from Our/Vodka near Club der Visionäre to please your wildest biking dreams. An exclusive vodka tasting and free bottles to bring home as a gift made sure we’d stay in the sattle… more or less.

Back on our horses, we threw a glamorous gala dinner at restaurant Mani which was followed by a wild night out – Berlin style. Dancing until you can’t feel your feet or find yourself making out with some random stranger. Berlinagenten knows where the party is!

On Tour – Cruisin’ Berlin

Even the greatest hotels need reliable software to function properly. And even the greatest hotel software developers need a reliable guide when it comes to discovering a city that offers endless possibilities once you leave your hotel behind you!

We programmed our guests’ stay in Berlin to be one for the legends. We first took our more than 50 French, Italian, Dutch, German, Swiss, Czech, Greek, Turkish, Irish, English, Australian, Slove-nian, Spanish, Iranian, Egyptian and Russian guests on an unforgettable boat trip over Berlin’s wa-ter ways. You think you’ve seen Berlin? A whole new world of discoveries opens up once you’re cruising along the Spree with Berlinagenten as your guide. We introduced our guests to the se-crets of the modern parts of Berlin, but also the ugly, beautiful, romantic and historically meaningful places – all tell a different story.

Since we’re strictly against simply rehearsing some pre-learned text and just waiting for our visitors to fall asleep, it was time for a classy Berlinagenten move. Pretzels and champagne for everyone! Nothing beats rocking down the Spree with a glass of Moet in your hand and the city at your feet.

After fighting off the cold we headed over to legendary Soho House for a wild night, with perfor-mances by Carbaret star Sarah Bowden (we did an interview with her, read more here) and stag-gering magic tricks by Martin Lübcke, one of Germany’s top notch illusionists. Magic Martin had our head spinning between the courses – a flying table, one of the guests’ mobile somehow appeared in an empty glass bottle (HOW, just HOW?) and a card signed by a guest turned up in a frozen chunk of ice a few seconds later. The guests were as astonished as we were. First time with Martin, but certainly not our last. He already promised to perform at our next party after he gets back from his part-time job at Hogwarts.

The combination of a legendary boat trip, Sarah’s sexy performance and Martin’s illusions (and maybe a few glasses of wine) had our guests put Henrik on a pedestal, cheerfully celebrating him as some sort of new entertainment god. Go Berlinagenten!

On Tour – Blanca Beltz goes Berlin

Berlinagenten loves Blanca Beltz! B.B. is a young consultancy for brands and companies, specialising in interior design and contemporary ambients. Do have a look at their website and you’ll see these guys mean serious business: they shape retail shops for multinational brands and their projects so far look pretty awesome to say the least.

When we received word they were looking for an inspirational&educational tour with focus on the creative scene, we didn’t hesitate to hook them up with our popular Creative Scene Tour and dived right into the city’s flourishing start up and newcomers scene.

Blanca Beltz is an uprising star in the design scene, so we figured they’d benefit the most by getting a behind the scenes glimpse into a internationally successful Berlin-based company that’s already made it to the top: ic!Berlin. A company that sells high quality screwless glasses to the likes of Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson and even the King of Marocco (prices range from 300€ – 2000€). But.. how did they manage to get that far? While enjoying the panoramic view over the city on the company’s rooftop, our spanish guests from Blanca Beltz learned all about guerilla marketing, how to approach celebs to help build their brand reputation and creating the right image for their company. Keys to success, mark my words.

To infuse our guests with even more of the infamous Berlin spirit, we paid our tributes to an experimental space called Platoon made out of ship containers (like pieces of Lego built on each other), always moving on to the next temporary location when the construction takes off. Our guests learned all about art-oriented communication, cultural development and edgy bellow-the-line strategies in order to reach an audience. Now we know that listening all day can get tiresome indeed, so we handed out some refreshing beers while listening to the presentations.

Screaming, dancing and singing mechanic monsters finished off our day in a bizarre underground amusement park – a great example of unconventional ways in which art can be created and displayed. Our guests expressed their great appreciation for the inspiring places we had taken them that day, but we couldn’t hold them off any longer: a group of cheerful designers went to conquer the city by night. Who knows where they ended up…

On Tour: Wella Japan Meets The Creative Scene

Berlin is all about individuality. You’re free to be whoever you want to be and spending just a few minutes on the streets will assure you that you can look as absurd as it pleases you, too. Tainted Sunglasses, peacock feathers and ripped jeans with your suit jacket? No probs. Undies on your head? Happens all the time. Hence, no one so much as batted an eye when a whole bunch of super trendy looking stylists from WELLA’s Japan division led by Berlinagenten started roaming the streets of Berlin Mitte to hunt for the coolest trends in the city.

Berlinagenten took them on a specially designed Cool Hunting Tour to fulfil their inspirational needs and really help them to dig into Berlin’s creative atmosphere – after all they were here to broaden their horizons and catch some of the city’s unique flair to bring it back home.

After visiting some of Berlin’s mandatory landmarks, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting four simultaneous tours through different trendy boroughs, all well known for their cool&edgy restaurants, bars, design stores and hip boutiques. Every now and then we’ve made somewhat longer stops at the locations to give our vigorous youngsters the chance to ask in depth questions and have a look behind the scenes – we promised to really give them insight into the Berlin fashion and art scene and we didn’t let them down! Visits included fashion labels like Picapica (known for high quality plant-dyed organic-clothing), Tausche, Devaki (they make some of the finest hats), but also the Art Center Bethanien and Berlin’s newest design temple, the Bikini House.

After an eventful day our guests boasted all the pictures they had taken that day over a gourmet dinner at the Soho House, sharing all the colourful memories of a day that’s bound to stay on their minds for months to come. A few of our japanese guests just couldn’t get enough of the city (and Berlinagenten) and decided to join us for a wild night out – strictly off the books. If the others won’t forget Berlin anytime soon, they certainly never will. We ended up partying until the early morning at Berlin’s sexiest cult party – Chantal’s House of Shame and our guests (literally) screamed with delight, all night! We’re already looking forward to having you guys again.

On Tour: X-mas Edition

It’s our favourite time of the year again. Millions of people joyfully swarm through Berlin’s streets, shopping malls and train stations and as always, the city is bursting at the seams. With all the tours we’ve done lately we still haven’t gotten around to buying Christmas presents! Aaahhh! Sometimes I feel ripping my beard off, throwing away my Christmas hat and shooting all the reindeers, but then I remember I’m not Santa and immediately feel better.

However, Berlin actually is a great place to be in the festive season – afterall there’s good reason why there are so many tourists visiting the city this time of the year. We have a huge selection of great Christmas Markets, ranging from traditional, romantic and historic to edgy, funky and super trendy. Yes, even the Christmas Markets have become trendy in the ever growing battle for coolness in Berlin. Beware of the mulled wine stands though, we’re pretty certain these guys have become millionaires over the last years and are just trying to rip us off a little more by the year (but what are we going to do, we need that mulled wine!!!). Then there’s great gift shops all over the city, lots of cool (literally) activities like iceskating right next to Berlin’s hottest nightclubs or a tobbogan run with a view of the Brandenburg Gate. And of course with this many tourists in the city, the nightlife gets even crazier than usual. Once again our party invitation inbox is close to bursting, but… so are we.

The past year has been extremely busy and successful for us and at this point we’re really looking forward to some well earned days off. The next issue of our blog won’t be released before February 2015. We’d like to genuinely thank all our guests, customers, partners and readers who accompanied us throughout the year.. Thank you, we would net haven gotten drunk so often without you!!

Back to business – If you’re in Berlin and haven’t decided on what to do during the festive season yet, here’s our top picks of Christmas markets, entertaining activities and gift shops. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! <3
