Red Carpet – Henrik’s World of Glamour

Thousands of visitors poured into the city when March brought the traditional start of the Berlin ITB (international tourism fair). With long exhausting days at the Expo and many new faces around, visitors are not the only thing pouring into the city. Countless trucks are on their noble quest to supply all the party hosts from the travel industry with the one thing that never runs out at good parties: Booze! No party without Berlinagenten, so here we went again.

Travel + Leisure Magazine „IT list“ Party // ITB Party

T+L magazine rocks. And we don’t just say that because they mentioned our well-loved Gourmet Tours in the 2014 print of their 50 Dream Trips. They’re also awesome party hosts who know how to throw exclusive parties with glamour and style! Each year the who-is-who of the international hospitality scene assembles at Das Stue and the chic guests get to enjoy the mouth-watering canapés and cocktails the boutiquee hotel has in store for this special occasion. We just can’t get enough!

Wyndham Excelsior // ITB Party

Sometimes it really shows Berlinagenten is something special. And not just to us. While 90% of the guests on this party had to put up with regular prosecco, we were downright chased by waiters with Moet Chandon bottles, begging us to have another glass of champagne. Always glad to help, boys! Thousands of cocktails made their way across the bars as well as special icecream lollypops that made our evening even sweeter. 0815industries did a great live graffiti show in the large backroom, which unfortunately fell off the wall a little later… that might or might not have been due to the insane amounts of cocktails given out. Definitely wasn’t us though… or was it?

Kempinski Bristol // ITB Party

Let the party begin! Kempinski invites their best travel partners, agencies, tour operators and sponsors to their annual ITB party. The hotel’s bar feels a little old-school among all the up&coming design hotels in Berlin and somehow reminded us of a very small ocean liner’s bar. The hosts made up for it with high quality food and and a high volume live band, though. We only left when the cleaning personell started mopping the floor around us. Where did the night go again…?

3 courses, 3 extra-ordinary locations. And even under the same roof! Now that’s something you don’t see every day. The first course was served in the historic-chic castle hall that is the Humboldt-Carré, the second course in the all new Gendarmerie where once white and beige walls have given way to strident colours and portraits of famous Berlin actors and actresses, and finally the third course in the underground Austernbank, a super cool old treasure vault turned into a restaurant. Chef Michael Weigt created a delicious menu based on typical Berlin dishes, reinterpreted and rounded up with an international flair. Only thing that was lagging behind was the dessert… wobbly jelly? We had to drink a few extra glasses of champagne to forget about that.

Skykitchen Opening Party

The new culinary gem in Lichtenberg. Actually, the only culinary gem in Lichtenberg! Their opening party on the 12th floor of Andel’s Hotel attracted countless curious Berliners and international guests. Chef Alexander Koppe was recently granted a highly coveted Michelin-Star, so naturally the supply of canapés coming from the kitchen were gone the second the hungry scavengers around us laid eyes on them. Thankfully no waiters were injured though. Let the scavengers have it, we’ll have the champagne instead! Read more about Skykitchen here.

ZenKichi // Secret Opening

Though it was more of a sneak preview than an opening, our visit to soon-to-come ZenKichi already blew our minds. Owners Motoko Watanabe and Shaul Margulies already run a ZenKichi in New York and they’re now setting sail to conquer Berlin’s japanese dining scene. Unlike most japanese restaurants they’ll not be selling sushi but instead offer a well-sounding à la carte selection and something that really makes ZenKichi stand out from the rest. They’re creating a whole new level of intimacy by shaping the interior so that instead of one large dining room, you’ll have 35 private séparées offering space for up to 6 guests per table. We can’t wait until the restaurant is completely set with cosy interior design and Japanese deco

The Scene meets Super Lux Berlin

Berlin has a reputation. It’s known as a city of hedonism, wild 24/7 partying, anything goes clubs, trashy bars and even trashier patrons. That’s what we love about it – its bad reputation. But there is another side to Berlin, a more sophisticated grown up Berlin, where luxury is paramount. Over the last ten years, Berlin has got her luxury on. It wasn’t until the mid 2000’s that the gastronomic/bar scene started to take off.  With more Michelin stars than Hamburg, you also get good value for money like nowhere else! Now things have become ever chicer, with a marked improvement in quality, international influences, more stylish interior design and truly creative ideas.

This can also be witnessed in the slew of new five star luxury hotels –The Eddington, The Q Hotel, Das Stue, The Sofitel and the Waldorf Astoria taking up residence in buildings old and new. Grown up Berlin is full of new innovations and stylish locations, all eager to buy into the luxury market. Here’s some of favourite upscale addresses.

The Guerlain Spa at the Waldorf Hotel

Step into pure heaven on the light-infused 5th floor spa that also boasts a swimming pool, a steam room. Each cutting-edge customized treatment starts with a footbath and massage. Then you’re taken to your own divine treatment room that is sprayed in the Guerlain scent you choose. Also on offer are hydrotherapy, Vichy showers, and massages for one or two. The pampering is just what you expect from the Waldorf – 5 star, all the way. Top tip for Berliners! You can drop in and use it as a day spa.

Marcell of Berlin DSCI0158 A young upscale high-fashion label Marcell of Berlin creats basics and evening fashion for sophisticated women. The concept store on in the Schlüterstraße, offers Marcell’s creations along shirts from 5Preview, jewellery by Tina Lilienthal, bags by Jerome Dreyfuss, sunglasses by Thierry Lasry and shoes by Melissa, which was created in cooperation with Vivienne Westwood.

A modern gourmet temple located in the historic Edison courtyard, the restaurant has been awarded with two Michelin stars. Daniel Achilles – “awarded as Chef of the Year 2014 by Gault&Millau. Not surprising, when you taste the exotic German flavors that have been creatively re-imagined into a world class fusion of thoroughly international sensations.

Soho House Lofts

Big stars needs big lofts. Over recent months, a little birdie told us that George Clooney and Jennifer Lawrence were guests. Each Berlin Loft benefits from an open-plan living and dining area that features a, 5.1 Cinema system, 75” TV, high-spec Kitchen, a dining table for 12 guests and either a grand piano or fussball table. It’s the perfect place for party, ask George! Take a virtual tour yourself.

Quartier 206

While Ka De We is the biggest and best luxury store in town, Quartier 206 on Friedrichstrasse gives it a run for its money in terms of atmosphere and ambience. Set in an extravagant Art Déco style, there are is over 8,000 square meters of retail space filled with brands like Gucci, Cerruti, La Perla,  Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Brille 54, to name a few.

Ritz Carlton Fragrance Bar

This world innovating bar opened in June. The concept you choose you cocktail by its smell. The menu card was designed by mixologist Henning Heisse, who also happens to be a perfumer. Guests smell signature scents by from Georgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent and Guerlain and pick the matching cocktail. Specialty bar snacks match the olfactory experience including a macaron with raspberries and vanilla that compliments ‘Signorina’ by Ferragmo.

IC! Berlin Brille_robert_04 Berlin’s very own IC! Berlin have hit the topend market perfectly, with their Onono glasses and lenses. Made from the long horns of Indian Oxes, these glasses are still the ultimate in luxurious  funky, handmade eyewear. The collection has been presented at Mido in Milan, the Vision Expo East in New York, the Silmo in Paris and the Ioft show in Tokyo. Seeing in believing.

The Mandala Suites Breakfast Room

This terrace is absolute Berlin secret, but we are sharing it you. It’s makes a damn fine  breakfast location on the rootop at the exclusive five-star hotel, the Mandala Suites

Whisky and Cigars

This shop in Mitte does exactly what its name implies, sells a huge range of Whisky and Cigars. An absolute consoeur’s paradise. They have an online store as well.

On the red carpet … Henrik’s world

March saw ITB – The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show in Berlin, which brought 114.000 trade visitors from every corner of the planet to the city. That means a couple of things. Lots of networking and the most amazing parties! The travel industry knows how put on the most spectacular, creative events. Naturally Berlinagenten was hogging the limelight on the red carpet and creating a scene.

Travel & Leisure: The IT List Cocktail event

Everyone wanted to be on the guest list for this party, hosted by Travel and Leisure. It was held at the luxurious high-end boutique hotel Das Stue in Tiergarten, which is listed in the prestigious Design Hotels catalogue. The party was to launch Travel & Leisure’s roundup of the 70 best new hotels in the world! It was red carpet all the way – as hotel owners & managers, marketing/media people, top journalists, creatives, high-end travel agencies, international networkers, glitterati people from the US and partners of Design Hotels drank Das Stue’s superb cocktails and feasted on a buffet created by Catalan superstar chef Paco Pérez, whose restaurant Cinco resides in the hotel.

LGBT’s Party

Berlin is one of the most gay friendly cities in the world, which means it’s a haven for LGBT tourists. We love our gays, as they make this city the creative metropolis that it is today. The city loves gays as well, and the pink Euro is especially welcomed in Berlin. Berlinagenten also offers a fabulous Queer Tour, which plugs you directly into the scene.

Over invited 350 guests were to celebrate the success of the LGBT Travel Pavilion at the ITB. Sponsored by Visit Florida, this year party was held on the roof top of Golden Tulip Hotel, which has a fabulous panoramic view over Berlin! Guests included travel industry professional, travel partners, tour operators, LGBT related companies, and sponsors Tomontour, who offer tips and advice for the Gay & Lesbian scene.

The famous Dj SuperZandy was on the decks playing bouncy house music. There were half naked go-go dancers, muscle men, and hysterical drag queens. One of the drag queen idols was glamorous blonde sex bomb Mataina, who represents the Vienna Gay travel scene. She was offering personalized photo sessions. Naturally Berlinagenten couldn’t resist getting in on the act. After such a riotous night, It came as no surprise to learn that this party was voted TOP ITB Party 2014 by Germany’s industry magazine FVW!

Wyndham Berlin Excelsior

The Wyndham Berlin Excelsior has become the legendary party of ITB because it’s where French champagne flows like the Spree. Last year, we were the last at the party and the champagne never ran out! Owned by an Israeli company, this a no expense spared party. This year, there was a whole room dedicated to Veuve Clicquot and at the Oyster Bar, oysters were consumed as if they were candy. The theme was cabaret and featured the rock’n’roll freak burlesque girls of the TeaserettesBerlinagenten who emptied one bottle of champagne too many, couldn’t resist getting on stage to perform with the girls in front of the entire travel industry! You could never say we shun the limelight!

Big thanks to Shachar Elkanati, food and beverage manager of Grand City Hotels who really knows how to throw a glamorous party!

Andles Hotel

Berlinagenten never misses the red carpet of the biggest ITB party hosted by Andel´s hotel. This year celebration was for a triple package! It was the fitfth anniversary Andel´s Hotel Berlin, the 25th year anniversary of VI Hotels & Resorts, plus its fifth legendary ITB-Party .

And what a party it was! Thousands of guests representing the entire spectrum of ITB. It was definitely an industry event, not overly glamorous but incredibly fun. That could be done to the fact that the staff were walking around with trays full of pure vodka shots. However, luckily there was lots of wonderful food as well. The food stations serving everything from meat and fish to sashimi and dessert. Germany’s favourite cover band JCB – who’ve been around for a decade – made the audience dance their socks off before two sexy women DJ’s spun tunes late into the night. The birthday cake was simply enormous, we probably missed the part when Samantha Fox jumped out of it!

Australia & New Zealand party.

It maybe at the other end of the planet but the Australian and New Zealand tourism industry were well represented at ITB. This party showcased the delicious food and wine from both countries. Berlinagenten is receiving an influx of Aussies as clients and therefore, it was the perfect place to  introduce myself over a glass of delicious white wine. Oh, and one of our top guides Lollie Barr is an Aussie. Looks like Berlin is set for an Aussie invasion!
